Why I Created Anchored in Faith & Family: When Faith Becomes More Than Something You Believe
There comes a point in life when faith becomes more than something you say you have.
It becomes the thing you hold onto.
The anchor you reach for when life doesn't go according to plan.
The prayer you whisper when you don't know what else to say.
The Scripture you return to when the world feels louder than God's promises.
And sometimes, faith is simply waking up in the morning and choosing to trust God one more day.
That is the heart behind Anchored in Faith & Family.
This Was Never Just About Creating Products
When I began Anchored in Faith & Family, I knew I wanted to create beautiful Christian apparel, gifts, keepsakes, and resources.
But somewhere along the way, God reminded me that this could be about something much bigger than putting words on a shirt or designing something beautiful for someone's home.
It could be about starting conversations about Jesus.
A shirt can carry a message into a grocery store.
A coffee mug can sit on someone's desk at work and quietly remind them that God is still faithful.
A journal can become the place where someone writes the prayers they aren't ready to say out loud.
A gift can tell someone:
I see you. I'm praying for you. God is with you.
And a simple message about Jesus can reach someone on the exact day they desperately needed to see it.
That's when creating became ministry for me.
Faith Isn't Only for Sunday Morning
I love the moments when faith feels powerful.
The worship song that brings tears to your eyes.
The prayer that gets answered.
The Scripture that seems like God placed it directly in front of you.
But I've also learned that some of the most important moments of faith happen in ordinary places.
In the car on the way to work.
Standing at the kitchen sink.
Sitting beside someone you love.
During a difficult conversation.
Waiting for an answer.
Celebrating something wonderful.
Walking through something painful.
Or lying awake at 2:00 in the morning telling God,
“I don't understand this…but I trust You.”
Those are the moments when being anchored matters.
Hebrews 6:19 says:
“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast…” — Hebrews 6:19 KJV
I love that picture.
An anchor doesn't stop the storm.
It doesn't make the waves disappear.
It keeps you from drifting when they come.
That's the kind of faith I want Anchored in Faith & Family to encourage.
Not perfect faith.
Anchored faith.
Why “Faith & Family”?
Because some of the most important things we will ever pass down cannot be wrapped in a box.
Our children and grandchildren may inherit our photographs, recipes, jewelry, traditions, and keepsakes.
But I pray they inherit something even greater:
A legacy of knowing Jesus.
I want them to remember that we prayed.
That we opened our Bibles.
That we talked about God around the dinner table.
That we praised Him when life was good and reached for Him when life was hard.
That Christmas wasn't only about presents.
That baptism wasn't simply a ceremony.
That Scripture wasn't decoration.
That Jesus wasn't reserved for Sunday morning.
He was part of our everyday lives.
That desire is behind so much of what I create.
The Heart Behind The Bethlehem Journey
One of the projects closest to my heart is The Bethlehem Journey.
Christmas can become incredibly busy.
We decorate.
We shop.
We wrap presents.
We attend parties.
We bake cookies.
We take pictures.
And somehow, in the middle of celebrating Christmas, it can become surprisingly easy for children—and adults—to lose sight of Christ.
I wanted to create something that would help families slow down and intentionally walk toward Christmas together.
Not simply count the days until presents arrive.
But spend those days discovering the story of Jesus.
Reading Scripture.
Talking.
Praying.
Creating memories.
And building traditions children might someday repeat with families of their own.
Because one day the toys will be forgotten.
But I hope they'll remember sitting beside Mom, Dad, Grandma or Grandpa and hearing the story of the Savior who came for them.
That's the kind of product I want to create.
Something that lasts beyond the moment.
There's Room for Laughter Here Too
Following Jesus doesn't mean every moment has to be serious.
If you've spent any time around Anchored in Faith & Family, you've probably already discovered a few raccoons, geese, ducks, highland cows and other members of our slightly unruly Faith in the Wild crew.
Because sometimes we need deep encouragement.
And sometimes we need a goose reminding us that we probably should have prayed before we panicked.
Both can point us back toward God.
Faith is woven through real life—and real life includes joy, laughter, family, football Saturdays, coffee, messy mornings and occasionally wondering whether patience is a spiritual gift we'd rather not practice today.
There is room for all of that here.
For the Person Who Found This Today
Maybe you came here looking for a Christian shirt.
Maybe someone shared one of our posts.
Maybe Google brought you here.
Or maybe you don't really know how you ended up reading this.
But since you're here, I want you to know something.
God sees you.
He knows what you're celebrating.
He knows what you're carrying.
He knows the prayer you've prayed a hundred times.
He knows the questions you haven't said out loud.
He knows the parts of your story that nobody else understands.
And whatever season you're walking through, you don't have to walk through it without Him.
Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us:
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6 KJV
Sometimes we won't understand the path.
We simply have to trust the One leading us.
What You'll Find Here
As Anchored in Faith & Family grows, I want this blog to become more than another place on the internet trying to sell you something.
I want it to be somewhere you can come when you need encouragement.
We'll talk about Scripture.
Faith in everyday life.
Prayer.
Family traditions centered on Christ.
Baptism and new beginnings.
Marriage and family.
Raising children who know Jesus.
Christian encouragement.
And yes, we'll probably laugh together too.
You'll also get to see the stories behind some of the things I create—because I want the products in this shop to have meaning, not simply designs.
My hope is that something you find here helps you stay anchored in your faith, encourages someone you love, starts a conversation about Jesus, or becomes part of a family tradition that lasts for generations.
One Last Thing
If you remember nothing else from this first post, remember this:
You don't need perfect faith to follow Jesus.
You just need to keep turning toward Him.
On the mountaintop.
In the valley.
When the prayer is answered.
When you're still waiting.
When you understand.
And especially when you don't.
Keep praying.
Keep opening His Word.
Keep showing your family where your hope comes from.
Keep talking about Jesus.
Keep choosing faith.
And when the waves get high—
stay anchored.
“Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast…” — Hebrews 6:19 KJV
Welcome to Anchored in Faith & Family.
I'm so glad you're here.
Created to keep you Anchored in Faith Daily.
